Same Name, Similar Interests

Mattias Arvola - Interaction Design Researcher. This Arvola appears to be in Sweden. Whereas, I am of Finnish decent. Anyhow, I ran across this Web site by doing a Google on my last name.

(1) Comment:
It is quite fun to google one's own name, isn't it?

There are a number of Arvolas out there. About five or six different clans I think, and me and my girlfriend are actually about to join two of them (yes, we come from two different arvola-clans). And yes I am half-Finnish, even though I consider myself a Swede. The criterium that defines whether you are Swedish or Finnish, when you as me is a second generation immigrant, is which national team you cross your fingers for in hockey.

Bill (your brother?) and I have tried to sort out if we are related over ICQ once, and we reached the conclusion that we were not.

Anyhow, take care! =)

Google Sans Tabs

Whitespace, talking about Google sans tabs:
The trick behind minimalism is being able to rid your designs of elements that it does not need.
I miss the tabs also. The home page looks cheesy now.
Although, I'm pleased with the presentation of the about information. Google has a nice flavor to their job opportunity Web pages. I like the "Top 10 reasons to work at Google" page and the "Culture" page.

Veggies & Protein

Over at Zeldman's The Daily Report, If you're eating enough fruits and vegetables, you must not give a damn about protein, contains current life significance:
"And it gets harder to build an effective team if the UI designer distrusts the graphic designer, who hates the writer, who can’t stand the lead developer, who looks down his nose at the systems administrator, who’s convinced that the information architect is a useless hack - and don’t even ask what they all think of the client."
... and is anyone helping this team to fix this problem? So far... no. Instead, repeatedly, I'm told this is the team's storming phase. Well, the storm isn't going to blow away without some fresh drafts.
